Art. 1 – The foundation and organization

 1.1. Med-Limes “At the Borders of the Mediterranean Sea was born as the International Short Film Exhibition that focuses on hot topics of our era. The drama of immigration and the scarcity of water resources and food products to meet the needs of millions of individuals, the discrimination against other cultures are the themes and contents on which are based the cinematographic productions which participate to the contest. The International Short Film Exhibition takes place in the second edition on 24-25-26 May 2019 in Salerno.

1.2. The International Short Film Exhibition is promoted by FONMED – “Fondazione Sud per la Cooperazione e lo Sviluppo nel Mediterraneo”. The Short Film Exhibition is open to the productions of professional filmmakers and directors which come from the Mediterranean area.

Art. 2 – Objectives

2.1. The general objectives that the International Short Film Exhibition Med-Limes “At the Borders of the Mediterranean Sea” proposes to pursue are:

– Use the medium of cinema to spread and make known the different cultures and identities that coexist in the Mediterranean area.

– Promote cinematographic productions minors, art works by emerging filmmakers who have a great cultural value.

– Focus on the themes of the 17 SDGs, the Sustainable Development Goals; sharing the principles, tools and individual commitments that each citizen and signatory State can take to achieve them.

Art. 3 – Themes and activities of the Event

3.1. The contest is open exclusively to short films made by directors of nationalities admitted to the contest. Each short film can have a maximum duration of 75 min.

3.2. The themes of the contest are the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals):

  1. No Poverty
  2. Zero Hunger 
  3. Good health and well-being for people
  4. Quality education
  5. Gender equality
  6. Clean water and sanitation
  7. Affordable and clean energy
  8. Decent work and economic growth
  9. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
  10. Reduced Inequality
  11. Sustainable cities and community
  12. Responsible consumption and production
  13. Climate action
  14. Life below water
  15. Life on land
  16. Peace, justice and strong institutions
  17. Partnership for the goals

The directors will be free to develop in their works one or more themes of the Short Film Exhibition.

Art. 4 – Submission

4.1. The submission for the contest is free. The films are selected by the FONMED Study Center – “Fondazione Sud per la Cooperazione e lo Sviluppo nel Mediterraneo“.

4.2. The films admitted to the International Short Film Exhibition – preferably in Italian preview – are producted in the following countries: Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Akrotiri and Dhekelia (UK), Gibraltar (United Kingdom).

4.3 To enroll for the contest it is necessary to download from www.medlimes.it the required documentation:

  • Entry Form;
  • Disclaimer that grant to the organization the use of the above material for promotional purposes related to the contest.

4.4. Fill out the application form on the site www.medlimes.it, taking care to insert a valid email address and attach the completed documentation referred to above. The secretary of the competition will send you a link with a unique code to the email address indicated in Candidature phase that will enable you to upload the video files in a special folder Dropbox.

4.5. Click on the link that you will receive in your mail.

4.6. Upload the video-file naming the file with the unique code that you received.

4.7. Alternatively, you can also register via the www.filmfreeway.com platform

4.8. The enrollment request is an official agreement between the parties. The Boards of registration, duly completed and complete attachments must be sent to the secretary of the festival by 30 April 2019.

4.9. The organization does not assume responsibility for postal hitches, delayed deliveries, incorrect transcription of addresses and/or content, videos rendered unavailable from the web, technical problems and other causes independent from his desire that may spoil or prevent the correct registration of an art work to the Festival.

4.10. The material sent to the secretary of the organization will not be given back.

4.11. All documents and movies will be filed in the archives/files of the FONMED, and used solely for cultural purpose and not-for-profit.

Art. 5 – Sending film for projection

5.1. The direction of the event reserves the right to accept the following screening formats: MP4, AVI or M4V. Candidates will upload the files in the shared folder of Dropbox that will be accessed by enabling the mail that was inserted in the application form referred to above.

Art. 6 – Sections and activities

6.1. The program of the review is divided into the following sections:

Short Films Competition

Short films made by directors of the nationalities admitted for a maximum of 75 minutes on topics related to the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

Out of competition

Short films or films made by directors on issues similar to those of the Review and of a duration longer than those admitted in competition or that have not been selected to compete for the Awards, but which tell and interpret the current events on issues similar to the 17 SDGs such as immigration, integration and interculture. The selection of short films in the “Out of Competition” section is entrusted to the unquestionable judgment of the FONMED Study Center – “Fondazione Sud per la Cooperazione e lo Sviluppo nel Mediterraneo“.

Special sections

Parallel to the film program, meetings are organized during the days of the event, with guests, directors and personalities invited to take part in the event.

 

Art. 7 – Juries and Awards

7.1. Personalities from the world of cinema and culture are invited by the direction of the event to constitute the official jury for the competition of short films. In addition, will there be a Young Jury composed of students of secondary schools. The Juries will be responsible to give official certificates.

These certificates will be dedicated to the personalities who have distinguished themselves for similar activities for the purposes of FONMED – “Fondazione Sud per la Cooperazione e lo Sviluppo nel Mediterraneo”.

7.2. Official certificates to assign to short films winners are four:

– Med-Limes At the Borders of the Mediterranean Sea –  Official Jury Best Short Film 2019″.

– “Med-Limes At the Borders of the Mediterranean Sea – Young Jury Best Short Film 2019”.

– “Med-Limes At the Borders of the Mediterranean Sea – Special Jury Award”.

– “Med-Limes At the Borders of the Mediterranean Sea – Mediterranean Award Alfonso D’Antonio “Man of the sea”.

– “MED-LIMES, At the Borders of the Mediterranean Sea – People’s Jury Award”.

7.3. The “Official Jury Best Short Film 2019” and the “Special Jury Award” will be assigned by the members of the Official Jury. The “Young Jury Best Short Film 2019” will be assigned by members of the Young Jury. The certificate “Mediterranean Award Alfonso D’Antonio” will be assigned by FONMED – “Fondazione Sud per la Cooperazione e lo Sviluppo nel Mediterraneo”. The “People’s Jury Award” will be assigned by the public present at the event.

7.4. The FONMED Study Center – “Fondazione Sud per la Cooperazione e lo Sviluppo nel Mediterraneo” will select a maximun of 25 films.

7.5. The certificates consists of Plaques and Diplomas.

7.6. No cash prizes and / or other assets of an economic value of more than 25 euros will be awarded.

7.7. May be awarded plaques also for single theme of the exhibition.

7.8. The organization reserves the right to confirm and / or change the prizes and their value during the organization phase. The prizes are assigned by juries specially set up by the Artistic Direction of the event.

Art. 8 – Public access

8.1. The projections of the films in competition will take place in the city of Salerno.

8.2. The entrance to the event is free of charge.

Art. 9 – Press Accreditation

9.1. Journalists and blogger can request a free credit.

9.2. Accreditation requests must be submitted no later than 20 May 2019.

9.3. Applications for accreditation must be presented on headed paper, signed by the interested party and sent by e-mail to info@fonmed.it

Art. 10 – Privacy and responsibility

10.1. The participants to the International Short Film Exhibition claims to know the management of the Privacy of the FONMED Foundation published on the site www.fonmed.it and gives unconditional absence, according to the Italian Law 30 June 2003, n.196 on the protection of privacy and according to the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR 2016/279), using the personal data for all the initiatives related to the event.

10.2. The participants declare to have the legal disposal of the film and the authorization of the public projection/show without asking for a payment, letting free the organization of the International Short Film Exhibition Med-Limes “At the Borders of the Mediterranean Sea”, and the room designated to the projection of any responsibility in the presence and in the future.

10.3. The participant declares to know and share the purposes of FONMED – “Fondazione Sud per la Cooperazione e lo Sviluppo nel Mediterraneo” published on the website www.fonmed.it

10.4. With enrolment at the event, the participants accept, implicitly the article from 1st to the 11 to the present regulation and give answer to the contents to his works. Otherwise declare and guarantees that the right works stands, in his interest, are his property and they don’t affect the rights of third persons and others and other authors, subject portrayed, transferees of rights stands, music rights ects.

Art. 11 – Eventual changes/variations

10.1. The organization and the director of the event have the authority to modify or make changes the rules of the present rules, including the eventual cancelling of one or more section of which do not give advice on the condition foreseen provided, making it evident and promptly to the people interested.

10.2. For every controversy related to the festival, the judgement is mandatory and reserved to the court of Salerno.
